Obituary for Gordon Mitchell
Mitchell, Gordon – Passed away peacefully at his home in Newmarket, surrounded by his
family, on Wednesday, August 23 rd , 2017, in his 70 th year. Loving husband of Janis (nee
Gaffe) for 43 years. Beloved father of Jonathan (Jennifer), Josh (Barbara), and Laura (Craig
Huckson). Proud grandpa of Rylan, Fionnlagh, Jack, and Jacob. Brother of Gary and Bev
(Jim Forrest). Son of Dorothy and the late Fred Mitchell.
Gord was a dedicated and gifted music teacher. When he wasn’t teaching, he could be found
caring for his many indoor plants, or hanging out in the garden. He adored his family.
A special thanks to the staff at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake who took
such good care of him.
Family and friends are invited to the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S.,
Newmarket on Saturday, September 16 th from 1-4 p.m; Condolences at 1, speeches and
performances at 2, followed by a Celebration of Life Reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations
may be made to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre or the Regional Cardiac Care Program
