Born February 7th, 1929 and passed away February 12th, 2017. Predeceased by his parents Gordon Allan Bayne and Edith Mary Stormont, and his brother Donald. Survived by his brothers Robert (Kay), George (Jane) and Jim (Lydia). He was the loving husband of 62 years to the late Mary Paulina Smith. Devoted father of the late Shawn (Laurie) and of Daniel (Jennifer), and Paul (Pam). Proud grandfather of Jonathan (Jennifer), Cory (Sarah), Eric, Emma (Jeff), Samantha, and Ash. Great-grandfather of Riley, Ethan, Blake and Corbyn.
He was a proud member of the GGFG (1943-1947); a Chief Warrant Officer of the RCR, 1st Battalion, a Veteran of the Korean War, as well as many peacekeeping missions (1948-1976); and an employee for 16 years at the Bank of Canada.
Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, Walkley Chapel (1255 Walkley Rd, Ottawa) on Friday, February 17th from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, February 18th to Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1758 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa, ON K1G 0G6 for Mass of Christian Funeral at 10 a.m. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Mission are greatly appreciated.
