2017
Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Gordon “Glenn” Adams passed away peacefully on Monday December 11, 2017 with family by his side. Glenn was born in Hamiota, Manitoba on September 13, 1946. He grew up enjoying all the simple pleasures that a small farming community offers – playing baseball, snowshoeing and hunting, and helping out on the family farm. After completing high school, and working in construction for the next few years, he moved to Calgary in July 1967. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Van Buskirk on October 11, 1969. They made Calgary their forever home, raising their two children there. In 1971 Glenn found the job he loved, his true calling, joining the Calgary Fire Department where he joyfully worked for 33 years, retiring as a Captain in 2004. In their retirement, Glenn and Sandy enjoyed spending their winters in Yuma, AZ as snowbirds, where they enjoyed many close friendships and happy times. Glenn’s hobbies were curling and golfing, and working in his garden and yard. Time with friends and family was so very important to him, and he truly cherished his grandchildren. Glenn was a good man. Loyal, kind, honest, and loving, he was a man of his word and would give a helping hand to anyone. The love, devotion and respect of his family and friends is a true testament to his character. He now joins his parents, Gordon and Hazel and brother Dale. Glenn will be forever missed by Sandy, his loving wife of 48 years, daughter Kerri (Marco), son Kory; his grandchildren Kody, Shayla, Mia and Ethan; sister Cheryl (Bert); sister-in-law’s Lynne (Lee), Jo (Dave), Jayne (Kevin) as well as numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends
