Mrs. Gloria June Nelson
March 29,1934 – November 20, 2017
It is with the greatest of sorrow and the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria June Nelson at the age of 83 years. Gloria was born in Lacombe Alberta and met the love of her life Jim Nelson in Penhold, Alberta where they married in 1955. The couple moved about in various parts of central Alberta before settling down in Edmonton, Alberta and this is where they raised their four children. In 2001, Jim and Gloria moved to Edson, Alberta and here they owned and operated the “Crazy Bear” craft store. In 2005, Jim and Gloria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and embarked on an enjoyable and memorable cruise to Alaska. Gloria was known for her incredible love of her family both two legged and four legged! Gloria was predeceased by her loving husband Jim, her sisters; Marilyn, Audrey and Sarah. Gloria is survived by her brother Fred “Sonny” (Irene) Johnson and sisters Lilyann Johnson, Lorraine (Jim) Mathews and Sharon (Chuck) Blondin. Also left to grieve are her children Terry Nelson, Linda Goulet, Lorrie Nelson and Tracey (Sean) Sheppard, along with five grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held at the Foothills Memorial Chapel-Edson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Keith Denman officiating. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Gloria, memorial contributions may be made to the Edson Animal Rescue Society Box 7028 Edson, Alberta T7E1V3. Foothills Memorial Chapel-Edson Funeral Home have been entrusted with the care and memorial arrangements. 780-723-3575.
