Glen Kenneth Marvin Boness – May 26, 1931 – December 17, 2016

Glen Kenneth Marvin Boness died in Victoria on December 17, 2016 at the age of 85 and went to be with his Lord. He is survived by his son Ken (Tammy), daughters Linda (Kent) Russell, Donna (Bruce) Manning and Arlene, along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents and 5 siblings, and recently by Vivian, his beloved wife of 61 years.
Glen was born in Camrose, Alberta on May 26, 1931. He spent his early years on his parent’s farm at Kingman AB and later lived in a restaurant they operated in the town of Bawlf. In 1943 Glen’s parents retired to Vancouver BC where the family joined First Lutheran Church. As a teenager, he was confirmed in his Faith in a class of fourteen which included the young lady (Vivian) who was destined to become his lovely wife.
After high school graduation in Vancouver, Glen’s first job was in a woodworking shop. He followed that with two years of university education in Saskatchewan and then returned to BC to work and to marry his Confirmation class sweetheart Vivian Thomassen. He joined the federal civil service as a customs officer in the port of Vancouver for 13 years, before moving on to a few years in the private sector doing sales and clerical work. His remaining 19 years of employment were with the BC Ministry of Labour; Employment Standards Branch. He worked first as an Industrial Relations Officer, then as Regional Manager, in 4 locations throughout the province before taking early retirement.
Since his Confirmation of Faith Glen has retained his connection with the Church and together with his family, has been a member of several Lutheran Churches over the years. His most recent, but brief involvement, was with Hope Lutheran Church, Victoria. Prior to that was 27 years at Peace Lutheran Church, Sidney, B.C. where he served terms as president and as director of the board of elders and assisted his wife in her role as church librarian.
Over the years, Glen enjoyed singing in/directing church choirs and male quartets. His
camping/travel escapades included use of trailer, camper van, motor home and sail boat.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2 pm at Peace Lutheran Church.
