Sadly, the family of Gladys Simpson announce her passing on August 30, 2017 in the Kirkland Lake Hospital. Gladys was born in Cobalt, Ontario and raised in a remote area in Otto Township near Swastika. In 1947, she married James Simpson, raised her children, spent most of her retirement in the small community of Dane, and most recently had moved to Kirkland Lake. Gladys is predeceased by her parents Percy and Ida Post, her brothers Leonard, Aubrey and Foy and will be sadly missed by her husband of close to 70 years, James Simpson, her children Neil (Judy), Gary (Brenda), Marlene (Gerry), 9 grand-children and 11 great-grand children.
Gladys was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, therefore, visitation will be on Saturday, September 2, 2017 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, service at 10:30 am and lunch to follow all held at the First Baptist Church, 47 Tower Street, Kirkland Lake.
Gladys’ soft-spoken, humble disposition will stay with us always and she will be greatly missed, but we all have fun memories of her warm kitchen and her friendly welcoming way into her home, her abundant cookies and her tea that the family so commonly referred to as “Gramma tea”.
