CERMINARA, Giuseppe ‘Joe’ – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday December 2, 2017 at the age of 93. Beloved husband of 68 years to Angelina (Elia) Cerminara. Dearly loved father of Jack (Delia) Cerminara, Joanne Cerminara and the late Giulio Cerminara (1956). Proud Nonno of Stefanie (Steve) Deif, Joe (Casey) Cerminara, Kristina Hamill and Anjelica Hamill and great-grandfather of Julian Deif and Ava Cerminara. Dear brother of Mena (the late Giacomo) Bianco, Marianna (the late Gherardo) Formica, Antonietta (Joe) Panucci and Mario (Annie) Cerminara and brother-in-law of Mona and Lois Cerminara. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Predeceased by his parents Gioachino and Carolina Cerminara, his in-laws Beniamino and Giuseppina Elia, and brothers Costantino and Frank Cerminara. Joe had worked at General Abrasives, retiring after 40 years of dedicated service. He had a passion for life and a joie de vivre that left a smile on the face of everyone he met. He was a proud veteran of World War II, having served with the Italian Army and was a prisoner of war and he loved regaling his grandchildren with stories about the war, but despite the hardships he endured he was thankful for the life he was able to live and passed that message on to them. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. visiting Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am at St. Ann’s Church. The Rite of Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum. In memory of Mr. Cerminara, donations to The Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by his family.
