Gillian Edith Aitken (Brown) – 1948 – 2017

With deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Gillian to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday 25th January 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1948 and moved to London, Ontario, where she married Norman Aitken from Scotland in 1972. She moved to Scotland with her husband and raised a family of 6 children. In 2004 the family moved back to Canada and settled in Victoria, BC.
Gill was a loving, caring and generous mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed. She loved to laugh and smile and shared her joy with her many friends and relatives worldwide.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Allan Aitken; her children, Philip, John (Vicky), Estelle (Dean), Alan, Donnie (Nicole) and Bennie (Gillian); her 8 grandchildren , Munro, Faith, Luke, Dylan, Noah, Carter, Adelyn and Harris; her sister, Vangy and her brother, Jonathan.
A Traditional Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Our Lord, 626 Blanshard Street (at Humboldt Street) in Victoria at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, followed by Burial at Royal Oak Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Friends and family welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Cancer Foundation and Our Place Society of Victoria. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
