Obituary of Gerrit (Gerald) Albertus Jans
~~Then I heard a voice from heaven say,
“Write this: Blessed are the dead
who die in the Lord from now on.”
“Yes,” says the Spirit,
“they will rest from their labor,
for their deeds will follow them.”
Revelation 14:13
The Lord took unto Himself His child Gerald on Thursday December 7, 2017, in his 79th year, after courageously battling cancer for 3 ½ years. He was born in Wielen, Germany and emigrated to Canada in 1969. Beloved husband for 53 years of Hetty (Noordegraaf). Dear father of Eric (Rhonda), Andrew (Kerri), Sonja (Brian) Bosch, Erna (Brian) Nordeman, Edwin (Debbie), Dave (Angelina), Pete (Lynne), Jeff (Melanie), Marja (Ian) Benjamins, Joanne (Dan) Lindeboom, and James (Danielle). Much loved Opa to 50 grandchildren. Gerald is survived by brothers Gerry (Janny) Jans, George (Ella) Jans; and many brothers-and-sisters-in-law in Canada and Holland. Predeceased by his brother Hendrik (1949). Special thank you to Dr. E. Blake, Dr. J. Smith from Dunnville Hospital, Dr. O. Levine from Juravinski, and the nurses at CCAC for your wonderful compassionate care. Friends will be received for visitation at Attercliffe Canadian Reformed Church, 85948 Canborough Road, Dunnville on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the church on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Melick Cemetery, Canborough Rd., Dunnville.
