Duke, Gerard (Gerry, Jer Juke)
August 29, 1946 – December 31, 2017
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
our wonderful Husband, Dad and Poppy, in his 71st
year.
Leaving to mourn their sad loss, his wife Shirley (Houlihan)
of 49 years, his sons Barry (Kristi) and Darrell (Lori), and daughter
Gillian (Pat), who so tenderly took care of their dad during the last
few weeks of his life. No man ever had so much attention paid with
such loving care and devotion.
Also missing their Poppy are nine grandchildren: Kyle Scott,
Kayla Brewer (Steve), Simone (Corey), Jarrod and Hannah Duke, Rachel
and Gavin Barry, Emma and Jessie Duke; as well as Pop Pop’s little
monster man Carter Brewer, his
great-grandson.
We could not have done it without the constant visits, care
and food from our nieces on both sides. They were so
attentive to his every need.
Leaving to mourn his brothers Pete, Jack and Pat, and sisters
Matilda and Margaret, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews,
relatives and friends.
His love of Country music will most certainly be carried on
by his children. His presence will definitely be missed by
his fur babies Minnow and Sheba.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral Home,
Placentia, with visitation on Monday, January 1st from 1pm to 5pm and
7pm to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place 2pm on Tuesday,
January 2nd at Holy Rosary Church, Freshwater. Burial to
take place at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia
at a later date.
“To the world he was but one, but to us he was our world.”
