GERALDINE “GERRY” MAE HEPPNER
January 21, 1937 – February 15, 2017
Geraldine “Gerry” Mae Heppner passed away from respiratory complications on February 15, 2017. She was born on January 21, 1937 in Selkirk Manitoba. Her childhood and youth were spent living in Garson, while during her high school years the family made several moves before Gerry settled in Winnipeg. She married Herbert Heppner on October 19, 1957. Gerry worked outside the home early in her marriage but was primarily a devoted stay-at-home mom. Her husband, Herb, was diagnosed with MS, and as the disease progressed she became increasingly busy with his care. Geraldine was cheerful, friendly, and compassionate, loving music, reading, and spending time with her family, particularly her grandsons.
Geraldine is survived by daughter, Lois Peters, grandsons, Andrew Peters and wife Danelle Bertozzi, and Kevin Peters and wife Lacy Peters; one sister and brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father Emil Malmstrom, mother Elsie Swain, husband, Herb Heppner, daughter Gloria Murray, and son-in-law Wes Peters.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street.
