Geraldine passed away November 18, 2017 at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre at the age of 78. Geraldine was born at Rimbey, Alberta May 26, 1939, eldest daughter of Johanna and Alfred Vetsch. Geraldine took all her schooling at Woodale and Rimbey. She moved to Calgary in 1962 and obtained employment in housekeeping at Father Lacombe Nursing Home and later at Holy Cross and Grace Hospitals.
In 1965 she met Jim Cooper. They were married October 6, 1966. Together they enjoyed travelling, camping and visiting family. After Jim’s retirement from the CPR they moved to Rimbey.
Geraldine leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband Jim, twin sister Georgine Lunzmann, sisters Connie (Frank) Snyder, Cecelia (Carl) Arnold, brothers Bob (Evelyn) Vetsch, James, David, Stephen (Luella) and Alvin. Geraldine was predeceased by her parents Johanna and Alfred Vetsch, brother Bernard, sister in law Joyce Vetsch and brother in law Rudy Lunzmann.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rylance and the staff of Rimbey Long Term Care Area One for their compassionate care of Geraldine. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
