Gerald Walter Gallant – 2017

Gerald “Jerry” Walter Gallant, 83 of Berwick passed away on January 10, 2017 in Grand View Manor. Born July 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Robichaud) Gallant, Fredericton, NB.
Jerry retired from his position at Michelin in Waterville and before this he was employed in the Bridgewater plant. He was well rounded in his employment, was an orderly at the Abby Lane Hospital in Halifax and Westminster Hospital in London, ON. He was also a part of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces PPCLI, stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1956.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6, Kentville for numerous years and for many years he was a member of the Valley Seniors Bowling League and the Kentville Legion Veteran’s Bowling League.
Jerry had a heart as big as himself. After winning many bowling trophy’s he decided, after removing his information plaques, to donate most of them to the Flower Cart Organization for use for other winners in that orgainization.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Lou (Sawler); daughter Karen Brown of London, ON; first wife Lee Gallant; three nieces and one nephew; mother-in-law Hazel Sawler; sister-in-law Ann and brother-in-law Rick Graham.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother William Gallant.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Berwick Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900). A visitation will take place on January 15, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. No flowers by family request. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation Canada, NS Diabetes Association, Cancer Society of Nova Scotia or the NS Heart & Stroke Foundation.
