Gerald Henry Chubak – May 12, 1948 – September 17, 2017 (age 69)

Gerald ‘Gerry’ Henry Chubak passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the age of 69. Gerry was born on May 12, 1948 to Elizabeth Sallai and Bill Chubak on the farm at Yellow Creek, SK. He was partially raised by his grandmother Regina Sallai where he attended Leask School. Gerry spent the rest of his childhood growing up in Prince Albert where he then attended North Central School and Composite High School. Gerry was a man that enjoyed the outdoors, and it was in every angle of his life. He loved sports, coaching soccer and watching baseball and football bringing him to enjoy the outdoors but it never ended there, he was an avid hunter, fisher in winter and summer loved camping and enjoyed sitting around the fire with family and friends. Gerry was the guy you could always depend on to have the fire ready and keep it going. He met Deborah Marquis and they were married at Kinsmen Park August 14, 1999, and then became a family of 7. Gerry worked at Burns for a time, but with it closing he quickly found employment at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary for 37 years as a Correctional Officer, retiring as a CX2. During these years he spent 10 of them on the Emergency Response Team and building many relationships with his colleagues that have continued till this day. Gerry is lovingly remembered by his wife Deborah; his children Jennifer Chubak (Ivan Finstad) and Dakz; Jillian Chubak; Courtney LaRoche (Stephen) and Blake and Noah; Braden Blais (Randi); Chelsey Daniels (Jeff); his siblings Tony Chubak and Barb and Melissa; Josephine Raichuk and Mark Raichuk and Anita Wolf; Joe Chubak and Dawn (Jim) Falconer, Elliott (Danielle) Chubak, Novalee (Trevor) Sandau, Carsen Chubak; Shirley (Vernon) Dorr and Rick Laforge; and his beloved pet Coco. Gerry was predeceased by his niece Bernadette Chubak; a brother-in-law Lenard Raichuk. He will be missed by all. Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church- 260- 25th Street East Prince Albert. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes donations may be made to Prince Albert Wildlife Federation, Buckland 491 Prince Albert, SK S6V 5S4. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729)
