George John Murray
1927-2017
George John Murray of Woodstock passed away on Tuesday, January 10,
2017 at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville. He was born in
Sussex, England on April 19, 1927 and was the son of the late John and
Dorothy Murray. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two wives,
Iris and Marjorie; a sister Jean and four bothers, John, Harry, Brian
and Bobby.
George came to Canada with his wife and son in 1965. He was a proud
World War II Veteran. He served from the beginning to the end of the
war, first as a Home Guard for three years, and then for three more
years with the Royal Engineers.
George is survived by his son Brian (Darlene) Murray of East
Coldstream, NB; grandchildren, Darren (Tammy) Murray of Moncton, NB,
April (Mark) Monus of Grand Prairie, AB, Mark (Trish) Murray of
Waterville, NB; great grandchildren, Joshua Murray, Victoria Murray,
Kyle Monus, Brandon Monus, Jared Monus, Alex Murray, Aspen Murray;
brother Tom Murray of Sussex, England; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. at
the Britton Funeral Home, 2 High Street, Hartland. The funeral service
will be held on Friday, January 13th, at 1:00 p.m.,from the Hartland
Wesleyan Church with Pastor David Wilcox officiating. Interment will
be in the Hopewell Cemetery in Hopewell Hill at a later date. If so
desired, donations can be made to Samaritan’s Purse Operation
