George Henry Schnyder was born to Olga and William Schnyder on August 14th 1924. He passed away at Viking Health Centre on March 12th 2017.
George was fifth of seven children. He is survived by one brother Vernon of Camrose. He is predeceased by both parents Olga and William Schnyder and brothers Chester, Arthur, Walter, and sisters Clara and Vera.
On May4th, 1944, George joined the Royal Canadian Army and took his basic training at Barryfield Ontario. after his service in the army he returned home on the Ile de France. After George returned home he worked for the Seismic Service Corporation in winter and the Department of Highways in the summer. He farmed some of his parents land until 1988. He sold his land but enjoyed his retirement still residing on the farm for several more years. Eventually failing health forced a move to Daysland and eventually to Extendicare in Viking.
George was a very generous donor to many different causes. He was passionate about The Stollery’s Childrens Hospital. He was a big hearted man who enjoyed nature, walking in the country, and growing a big garden. His neighbours will remember and miss him for his gentle and kind ways.
