George Percival Fudge, 87 of Etobicoke Ontario, passed away peacefully, Sunday August 13 at Etobicoke General Hospital, with his 3 Daughter’s at his side, 10 days after suffering a massive stroke.
Visitation to be held Wednesday August 16 at Ward’s Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road, York, ON M9N 1X7 from 2pm until 4pm then 7pm until 9pm. A Lions service will be held at 7pm.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday August 17 at Westway United Church, 8 Templar Drive, Etobicoke, ON M9R 3C7, just north of Kipling and the Westway off Holywell Drive.
George was born Monday February 3, 1930 in Belleville Ontario, Hastings County to Gladys (nee Martin) and Victor Fudge.
George’s early career he worked as a Deliveryman for Canada Bread and later as a Milkman with Silverwoods Dairy. Later on George spent over 25 years with the North York Board of Education retiring at age 65 as a Head Caretaker.
He was an avid woodworker, painter, wood carver and gardener. He loved fishing at the Cabin with his children and grandchildren as often as he could. He also enjoyed spending time with the family pets the late Brandy and Jenny whom is missing him greatly.
Active in his community throughout his life, including the Beavers Bible Group, York Figure Skating Club, Lions International and Islington Seniors center to name just a few.
In his volunteer work he was awarded, the Helen Keller Award, 100% President Award and many others from Lions International. Through his Senior Centers, he was presented with many volunteer recognitions over his many years of service.
One of his favourite events was as a volunteer member of the York Mount Dennis Lions Club at the annual West Park Hospital Monte Carlo night for the patients, working with the help of numerus other local Lions Clubs.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Berndt) married February 2nd 1957 making 41 years of marriage.
Much loved and devoted father of his three Daughters, Deborah Parker and her husband Shawn of Etobicoke ON, Susanne Sandhu and her husband Mintu of Brampton ON, Patti Milne and her husband Bill of Brampton ON.
Dear Grandpa of Karen, Jonathan, Hailey, Katelin & Chris.
Loving Brother to Jeanette Alexander and the late Wilfred, Irene Campbell and Edward, Gord Fudge.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Victor Fudge and brothers Charles, Harold and Ernie.
Fondly remembered by his special friends, Olga Gresko and Doreen King and many others.
Uncle George will be truly missed by all of his nieces and nephews.
