Gene Eugene Stanley Halwa – 2017

HALWA
It is with intense sadness and sorrow we wish to announce the very sudden and unexpected early passing away of our loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, Eugene (Gene/Geno) Stanley Halwa in the early morning hours of September 5, 2017 at the age of 55 years old.
Gene was the third and youngest son born to Shirley Ann and Eugene Walter Halwa on March 29, 1962 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. He enjoyed many of his younger years growing up surrounded by his Aunts and Uncles, together with his numerous cousins visiting in Grande Prairie, Alberta. He spent the past 36 years working for the Government of Alberta – Correctional Facilities in Calgary, Alberta and for the past 17 months in Red Deer, Alberta as the Deputy Director, Operations. He was extremely dedicated to his career. When Gene was not “in jail” keeping the peace, he enjoyed living his life fully and looking forward to retirement. His passions were camping, BBQ’s, garage sales, browsing antique shops, fishing, trying his hand at golf and totally relaxing on his deck being surrounded by family and friends, working on any number of building projects he dreamed up and completed and playing a good card game that he could win! He will be forever remembered for his one-liners and sayings as well as his quick wit, which he could throw out with his well-known grin at any given time. Gene was predeceased by his Father, Eugene Walter Halwa and is survived by his Mother, Shirley Ann Halwa who is 81 years old. We believe his wit was inherited from his Mother. He is also survived and will forever be in the hearts of his loving Wife, Sheryl-Lynn (Sher) O’Neill-Halwa, his two sons, Justin James Halwa and Grandson Caleb Lagundino, Lee Bryan Halwa and his Wife, Tina Taing-Halwa, Grandson, Tristan Halwa, his two Step-Daughters, Brittany Howell and her Husband, Donovan Howell, Granddaughter, Ruby Howell, Brandi-Lynn O’Neill and Grandsons, Noah McShane, and Drew McShane and by his adopted family, Richard and Lisa Nicholson, Granddaughters, Sophie, Hope and Katie and Grandson, Max Nicholson. He loved all his blended family enormously. Gene is survived by his two older Brothers, Neil Halwa and his family, Wayne Halwa and his partner, Teresa Watts, and their families, loving Nephews, Bart, Randy and Eddie and their Partners and families, together with numerous other aunts, uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and their families. He is also survived by his numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their respective families, as well as many friends.
