Mr. Gavin Matthew Sampson – Lower L’Ardoise NS
SAMPSON Gavin Matthew 38 , It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle and cousin on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2017, as a result of an ATV accident.
Born in Halifax, Gavin was the son of Arnold and the late Debbie (Ferguson) Sampson. He graduated from St. Peters District High in 1997 and in the view of his friends and teachers, Gavin’s outgoing personality was sure to allow for many opportunities for adventure along the way. His most recent work as a driller with Viking Drilling took him all over the world, including Iraq, Madagascar, Romania, Papua New Guinea, Jerusalem, and Israel. When he was on his “off” schedule from work, Gavin loved to be home and made the most of his time, This is where he was happiest, when he could be exploring nature, enjoying the peace and solitude he found in the woods while fishing or hunting. Gavin lived his life in such a way that if you met him, “you couldn’t forget him”, He had so many friends of all ages that will forever have great memories and “Gavin Stories” to tell.
Left to mourn his loss are his Dad, Arnie (Judy Langdon), Lower L’Ardoise; and his sister Amy (Stewart McIntyre), High Prairie, Alberta. Also left to mourn are the shining lights in Gavin’s life, his niece and nephew, Brooklyn and Ryder. Close to his heart was his Grampa, Charlie Sampson, Lower L’Ardoise. Gavin was also blessed with many aunts, uncles, and cousins form the Sampson and Ferguson clans.
Gavin was predeceased by his mother Debbie, in 2015, maternal grandparents Cecil and Jean Ferguson, paternal grandmother Mildred Sampson and Uncle Bernie Sampson.
The late Gavin Sampson will rest in the Holy Guardian Angels Visitation Chapel on Friday, December 29, 2017 with visitation from 2-8 pm. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1 pm from Holy Guardian Angles Church, L’Ardoise with Rev. Antolin Asor officiating; burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the local Food Bank C/O L’Ardoise Social Action, Lower L’Ardoise N.S. B0E1W0.
