Obituary for Frank Borden Bates
Frank Borden Bates
July 27, 1947 – December 23, 2017
Eldest son of the late Frank and Audrey Bates. Husband of Susan Boyd, beloved father to John (Deborah) and Kimberly McVeigh (Bob). Grandfather of Katerina, Alexandra, Victoria, Anthony and Mathew. Cherished brother of Jeffrey (Sheila). Fondly remembered by many brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
Many thanks to the nurses and staff of the Centre d’Hébergement des Collines in La Pêche, Quebec and special appreciation to Linda Sullivan for her compassion and support.
In keeping with Frank’s wishes, his final resting place will be in Freeport, Nova Scotia, where a private family service will be held in May 2018.
God’s Garden
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace be thine’.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
