Florence “Marina” MacIntyre
1946-2017
MacIntyre, Florence “Marina” – Age 71 of
Kingsville, Inv. Co., passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, July
20, 2017. Born in Inverness she was a daughter of the late
Dougald and Anna Bell (MacQuarrie) Blue.
She was a switchboard operator for MT&T in her
younger years; she was looking forward to the Switchboard Reunion in
August 2017. After MT&T she was a Librarian employed with SRSB
for 25 years. A member of Fulton Presbyterian Church, Malagawatch and
treasurer for Fulton Presbyterian Church, River Denys Presbyterian
Church, President of the CAP site, Glendale; a member of the Red
Hatters; active in the Port Hastings Historical Society; active in the
community also she arranged the Ceilidhs in the cultural centre and on
the grounds. She enjoyed genology and helped people find connections
to their past. She loved spending time with her
grandchildren.
Marina is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gabriel;
daughter, Nancy (Jamie) Meagher, Auld’s Cove; sons, Cecil
Blue, Queensville; Sheldon (Aimee) MacIntyre, Port Hastings; Winston
MacIntyre, Halifax; Curtis MacIntyre, Kingsville; sisters, Sadie Fee,
Whycocomagh; Eleanor Blue (Leonard Morrison), River Denys; Alexandra
Blue (Alexander MacLeod), Iron Mines; brother, Ainslie Blue, Valley
Mills; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Blue, Valley Mills; grandchildren,
Hannah and Callie Meagher, Liam and Noah MacIntyre and numerous nieces
and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Malcolm and Howard;
sister, Eleanor in infancy; brother-in-law, Joey Fee.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Dennis Haverstock
Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday
from St. Mary of the Angels Church, Glendale with Rev. Andrew
MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Angels
Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation
of Nova Scotia or Father John Angus Rankin Cultural Centre, Glendale.
