Everett Harry Dickie
1933-2017
The death of
Everett Dickie of Quispamsis, beloved husband of Barbara Freeze
occurred on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. Born on September 10, 1933 in Meagher’s
Grant, NS, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Hurley)
Dickie.
In his early
years, Everett was proud of his time spent with the RCMP and prior to
his retirement, he had a long working career with Revenue
Canada. He was a longtime member of the Heart Support Group
and volunteered with various other community
organizations.
In addition
to his wife of 11 years, Barbara, Everett is also survived by
his children, Perry Dickie (Susan) of Saint John, Brenda Phinney (Rob)
of Saint John, Cathy Burchill (Mike) of Rothesay, Kelly Dickie (Peter)
of Sussex and Carson Dickie (Andrea Morris) of Rothesay; siblings,
Willis Dickie (Betty), Harold Dickie (Lucy), Margie Stewart, Ella
Romans (Gordon) and Walter Dickie; precious grandchildren, Jason,
David, Jay, Thomas, Jonathan, Jane, Eric, Greg and Ryan;
step-children, Lynn Bustin, Lori Bennett (Kevin) and Lisa Jardine
(Stephen); 11 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well
as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also
predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice; sister, Jean; brother, Murray
and step-son, Mark Freeze.
Resting at
Brenan’s Funeral
Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with
visiting on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 6-8 PM and Tuesday, June 6, 2017
from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from
Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 12:00
Noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial
Gardens.
In lieu of
flowers, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, the
SJRH Palliative Care Unit c/o the SJRH Foundation or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
