EVERETT JOSEPH BURDEN (1945 – 2017)
Passed peacefully July 8, 2017 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s at the age of 72 years following a courageous battle with cancer. Everett is now reunited with his treasured wife Augusta (Gussie), parents Gordon and Edna Burden (Parsons) of Carbonear, and brothers Gordon and Eric. Leaving to mourn with heavy hearts are his loving children Krista Hounsell (Roger) and Peter Burden (Raegan); his cherished grandchildren Zachary, Ryan, Ethan and Claire; his beloved sisters and brothers Hilson Leonard (Randy), Jackie Kennedy (Bill), Vida Clarke (Melvin – deceased), Hubert Burden (Loretta) and Walter Burden (Annette) who were always by his side ensuring that he enjoyed life; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Special thank-you to Dr. Jamie Tibbo, Lisa Hussey, Kara Ryan and the fourth floor nursing staff at St. Clare’s who went above and beyond in caring for our father over the past 6 years. Visitation for friends and family will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave. on Monday, July 10 from 1-4 and 7-9 pm, and Tuesday, July 11 from 1-4 and 7-9 pm. Cremation to follow. Funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel on Wednesday, July 12 at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
