1925-2017
With heavy hearts, the family of Evelynn Small, wife of the
late Richard Small, announce her passing on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at
her residence in the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home, Inc.
Born February 27, 1925 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late
Havelock and Blanche (McColgan) Gillespie.
Family was always Evelynn’s top priority; she loved
and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She also
enjoyed doing crafts, and had an excellent green thumb.
Evelynn is survived by her son, Doug (Mary); her daughter,
Lora Skead (Jon); grandchildren: Christopher Small (Alison), Jason
Small (Kim), Jessica Skead (Peter), Scott Skead (Joanna), and Jonathan
Skead; and great-grandchildren: Susannah, Ellie, and Eve. She was
predeceased by her parents and husband.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of St.
John and St Stephen Nursing Home for their care and consideration
during Mom’s stay.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111
Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on
Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 3 pm to 7 pm. A celebration of
Evelynn’s life will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10
am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take
place in Greenwood Cemetery. Remembrances to a charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please
