Obituary for Evelyn Ratz (Sharp)
Sadly, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, Evelyn Ratz, formerly Gratton (nee Sharp), passed away at Fairview Home. Evelyn was born September 5, 1926 near McCreary, Manitoba, and was one of twelve children born to Robert and Dorothy Sharp. Evelyn touched the hearts of people in the many places she worked throughout her life. Once retired, she enjoyed many visits from neighbourhood children who stopped by for treats and called her “the cookie lady”. Ev was a champion for the elderly or those in need and always found the time to visit, bake a pie, prepare a meal for the many friends she took under her wing. Evelyn is survived by her sons Dale (Marilyn), Ray (Valerie); grandson Darren (Staci); great-grandchildren Bodhi and Bethany; brothers Glen, Jim and Malcolm; sisters Shirley and Joyce and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Ratz; her mother and father; brothers Bob and Harvey and sisters Velma, Ivy, Donna and Violet. Ev’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dan and Connie Bieber of Brandon and also to the 4th floor staff at Fairview Personal Care Home. Your kindness and caring was outstanding and appreciated more than words can express. Special love to “Nurse Bella”. The Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330- 18th Street North, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Evelyn will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Arlene Robertson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please make a small donation to your local Humane Society or no kill animal shelter.
