Formerly of Paris, Brantford and Wingham passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Place in Cambridge, Ontario on November 7, 2017. Jean was in her 98th year. Predeceased by her devoted and faithful husband of 62 years Gordon Cruickshank in 2003. Loving mother of Colleen Davis (Robert) of Cambridge, Sandra Howlett (Jim) of Guelph and the late Darryl Cruickshank (2005). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Beth and Martin Sarmiento (Peru), Tim and Teresa Howlett (Alberta), Michael and Diane Fietje (Peru), Steve and Nellie Davis (B.C.) Jon Mark and Sarah Davis (Dorchester), Mark Fietje (Cambridge), Corry Cruickshank (Alberta), Martina and David Brubacher (Russia) and James Davis (B.C.). She is remembered with love by her 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, extended family and many dear friends. Predeceased by her son-in-law Rev. Koos Fietje (1981), niece Nancy Humphreys and nephew Robert Montgomery. As the last in her family’s generation she was predeceased by her sisters Berniece Dance (Bill), Marion Humphreys (Don) and Margaret. Also predeceased by Gordon’s siblings Vera Robson (Tom), Amy Jarvis (Sawyer), Bruce Cruickshank (Aileen), Bert Cruickshank (Marjorie), Glenn Cruickshank (Barbara) and Joyce Montgomery (Don). She was a good friend of Sawyer’s second wife Diamond. Jean had many interests including photography, car trips, sewing, crocheting, quilting and journaling. We will never forget her amazing butter tarts!
Friends will be welcomed at the DWAYNE D. BUDGELL Funeral Home, 1105 Rest Acres Road, on Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Her nephew, Rev. Robert Cruickshank of Medicine Hat, Alberta will officiate. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to either Hope Story (formerly Kids Alive Peru), SEND International or St. Luke’s Place Foundation, Cambridge in Jean’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
