After a lengthy illness, Eunice passed away at the Glace Bay General Hospital on November 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Freemen and Mildred (Koziel) Swartzack, born on September 2, 1930 and was formerly of Wallace Road, Glace Bay.
At the age of 16, Eunice began her career with Maritime Tel & Tel in Glace Bay and Sydney, spending her entire career there .She was a very loving and caring person with the many people she knew. This was especially true with Eugene and Ed in their progress in education and many sports; mainly hockey at the Minor, High School and University levels. She was an avid skater (long blade) at the Glace Bay Minor’s Forum, loved dancing to the music of Gib Whitney and Emilo Pace, as well as being a member of her office bowling team.
Eunice will be great missed by her two brothers, Eugene (Joan), Antigonish , Ed (Delores) Ottawa, nieces and nephews , Mary (Greg) Hines, Halifax, Joseph, Antigonish. Eunice (John) Coupland, Halifax, Kay ( Kevin ) Rodney, Ottawa, Michael (Billie) Swartzack, Ottawa, Susan (Douglas) Rourke, Ottawa, Cindy (Tim), McKarney, Ottawa and her special grandniece, Melisa Swartzack and friend, Muriel Waterfield.
Besides her parents, Eunice was predeceased by her husband, Mark Lelievre.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. By her request, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held at later date.
Many thanks to the nurses and staff for their kindness and services provided to Eunice at Three West and Three South, at the Glace Bay General Hospital. A special thanks to Dr. David Ley for the many hours of great care and services he provided for Eunice.
