“Gene” Gene passed peacefully surrounded by his caring family on November 26, 2017 at the age of 78. Beloved husband to Eileen (nee Hunter) for 31 years. Dearest father to Rodd (Maureen), Todd (Martha), Cary (Diane), Mark, Tom and their mother Linda Iler. Loving step father to John Coulter, Jeffrey (Gina) Coulter and Kathleen (Paul) Sturkenboom. Cherished grandfather of 20 and great grandfather of 7. Son of the late Eugene and Agnes Lucier and predeceased by his siblings Fred, Elizabeth (William), Crawford (MaryAnn), Agnes Anne (Joe) and sibling–in-laws Joseph Hunter, Thomas Hunter and Sr. Eileen Marie Hunter. Survived by his sister-in-laws Barbara, Patricia and Pat. Gene was retired from the Windsor Essex Catholic School Board with 28 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and spent many years coaching and umpiring Little League Baseball. He enjoyed playing hockey and cheering for the Detroit Tigers. His happiest times were spent with his family, regaling them with his many, many, many stories. He will be forever missed. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E 519-253-7234 on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-9 with parish prayers at 7:30pm. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at Most Precious Blood Church on Thursday, November 30, 2017 for visitation from 10am until time of his Funeral Mass at 11am. Cremation to follow. If you so desire, donations to Second Chance Ministry, Drouillard Place or Transition to Betterness would be appreciated by his family. Condolences may be left at www.windsorchapel.com
