Passed away quietly on June 5th, 2017, at Kelso Pines Retirement Home, Owen Sound. Esther was predeceased by her husband Allin P. Deacon, and her daughter Mary (Toronto); also predeceased by her sisters Eleanor Reeves of Toronto, Mary (Molly) Falk of Sidney, B.C., and Ruth Wilson of Chatham, ON.
Esther is survived by her sons Frederick of Toronto and Daniel of Owen Sound; by her son-in-law Bert de Vries and grandchildren Peter and Beth de Vries, all of Toronto; by her sisters-in-law Frances Deacon of Toronto and Kathleen Hofmeyer Boyce of Victoria, B.C.; and by a host of relatives living across Canada, from both her husband’s Deacon clan, and also the Elliott clan which originated in Prescott, ON., the clan from which Esther was descended.
Frederick and Daniel profoundly thank the staff of Kelso Pines Retirement Home, who looked after their mother with skill, care, patience, dignity, and grace, during her last years.
A memorial service for Esther will be held on Saturday, June 24th, 2017 at 3:00pm at the Tannahill Funeral Home, 1178 4th Ave West, Owen Sound, 519-376-3710, with a reception for family and friends to follow.
