Obituary for Emery Christie
– Died with is his family by his side on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Petrolia. EMERY CHRISTIE, of Petrolia, who was a veteran of World War II, was in his 91st year. Emery is predeceased by his first wife Peggy (nee Balleine) (2004) and is survived by his wife Joyce (Spinks). He will be missed by his children Ken and Pat Christie of Petrolia and Donna and Peter Godwin of Orangeville. Emery was a loved grandfather to Allan and Sheena Christie and their son Simon, Russell and Ashley Christie, Pamela and Phillip Cutmore and their son Ian, Valerie Christie, and Kenneth Godwin. He will also be missed by Joyce’s children Penny Wallace, Glen and Shirley Spinks, Goldie Spinks, Diane and Ron Farr, Jim and Sandi Spinks, and several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Emery worked most of his life in the tire retreading business, and in his fifties Emery earned his 4th class stationery engineer’s diploma from Humber Collage. Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia where a funeral service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 am. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a memorial service Sunday at 6:30 pm. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to V.O.N. (www.von.ca) or C.E.E.
