Obituary of Elizabeth Litwiller
1928-2017
Betty passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo on Friday, May 5, 2017 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.
She was in her 89th year and was the daughter of Howard & Estella Weber.
Beloved wife of Walter, who predeceased her in 2009.
Betty was the loving mother of Michael (Janice), Kevin (Sandra) and Maureen Litwiller.
She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Nicole Hruden (James), Christopher Litwiller, Rebecca Bowman (Ken), Joshua Bowman (Lisa), Ruby and Sophie Litwiller as well as her eight great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her sister, Gladys Simmons of Ohio.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Kim Bowman (Don) and sisters Rita Erb and Evelyn Horst.
Betty had a keen sense of travel, adventure and discovery. She taught her family the value and importance of family, friendships, honesty and good old-fashioned, hard work. She was a life-long member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church where she was well-known as a skilled vocalist. She sang solos and trios and was a member of the church choir. She and Walter also sang in the KW Philharmonic Choir for many years. In retirement, she and Walter enjoyed summers at the family cottage near Bancroft and many winter trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida, spending time with each other and friends.
Relatives and guests are invited to share their memories of Betty with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorial visitation will continue on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Ave. N., Kitchener with a memorial service in celebration of Betty’s life at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the fellowship hall.
Condolences for the family and memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, to the Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church Renovation Fund or The Alzheimer Society of Canada, may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com
