Elizabeth Thistle – 2017

THISTLE, Elizabeth Kathryn (nee Taylor) – Passed peacefully away at her home on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Elizabeth “Betty” Thistle age 85 years. Predeceased by her loving husband Leo Ronald Thistle (1999), parents: James Guy and Beatrice Taylor and step sister Amy Matthews. She leaves to mourn her five children: Rosalind (Douglas) Pratt, Lee (Eileen), Jeffrey (Cindy), Kathy (Bruce) Thistle-Lane, and David (Sue); Eleven loving grandchildren: Andrew (Stacey) Pratt, Jeffery (Krista) Thistle, Nicole (Durwin) Pollard, Karen (Justin Wright) Pratt, Rob (Tracy) Thistle, Janet (Cory) Whelan, Brian (Jennifer Fowler) Thistle, Rebecca (DJ Howell) Thistle, Colin Lane, Benjamin and Mary Beth Thistle ( and their mother Patti); 12 great grandchildren: Max, Athena, Zander, Prescott, Isaiah, Jacob, Reed, Michael, Taylor, Mackenzie, Logan and Erica. Leaving to mourn long time friend and caregiver Rita Wall and childhood friend since kindergarten Roma Butler Riddell, and a large circle of family, friends and acquaintances, especially her choir members from the Church of the Ascension, Mt. Pearl. Betty was a dedicated executive secretary to the Kiwanis Music Festival from 1964 -1992. Betty will always be remembered for her devotion and love of music. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mt. Pearl on Monday, January 16, 2017 and Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of The Ascension, Smallwood Drive, Mt. Pearl. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Betty’s memory to Epilepsy NL. or Dravet.ca., a charity near and dear to Betty’s heart.
