Elizabeth Shewchuk (Wiwcharuk) – 2017

Elizabeth Shewchuk (Wiwcharuk)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Shewchuk on April 7, 2017 in her 103rd year.
Elizabeth Wiwcharuk was born in Endeavour, Saskatchewan and moved to Fort William, Ontario to work through the war. There she met Dad (John Shewchuk, d. 1984). They married in 1948 and lived in Flin Flon, Manitoba for 5 years. Subsequently, they settled in Gilbert Plains where she lived for 60 years.
Elizabeth was the best mom in the world to us. She was a devoted mother-in-law to Borden and a doting and most loving Baba to her grandchildren Katrusha (Chris), Nicholas (Amy) and Evanka (Adam) and her great grandchildren Elizabeth, Jack, Lauren and George. She is survived by her loving sister Dolly, her beloved niece Gail and her husband Wayne, and her cherished nephew Tony, amongst other family members.
Mom was predeceased by her much loved parents, Jenny and Pentley, and was a caring and attentive sister to her predeceased brothers Myron, Mike and twin brother Harry.
Mom will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour, unlimited generosity and kindness, and her independent spirit.
Many heartfelt thanks to the staff of Grandview Personal Care Home for making Mom’s last three years full of fun, laughter and unparalleled care.
Thank you to Father Brent Kuzyk for his prayers and words of comfort.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or to the Grandview Personal Care Home activity centre would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 4:00 pm from Sneath-Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin, MB with Rev. Father Brent Kuzyk officiating. Interment to follow on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in St. John’s Cemetery in Endeavour, SK.
