Obituary for Elizabeth Calder
BETTY CALDER
1926 – 2017
Mrs. Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Calder passed away with her family by her side at her home on September 16, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
Betty was born in Crossfield, Alberta on November 7, 1926. In 1940 the family moved to the Spruces where the family farm was situated. The Gibson and Calder family had many connections through the years, and Betty and Bill’s relationship grew as a result. They were married in 1946 and shortly after purchased farmland west of Innisfail where together they raised their crops, cattle and their three children. Bill passed away in 1985, but Betty stayed on the family farm until 2002 when she moved to Innisfail where she resided until her passing.
Betty was very active in the Little Red Deer W.I., 4-H, her church and especially her family. Her loving heart and kind ways will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her daughter: Catherine, son: Bruce (Karin), grandchildren: Aaron, Kyle (Evie), Justin, Candice (Brendon), Travis, Shawn, Patrick, Teresa, Heath and Shane, twenty two great grandchildren and their spouses and six great great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves to mourn her three brothers and two sisters and four very special people: Myrna Manual, Duane and Glenna Neal and David Loree. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and her daughter Clara.
A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at the Innisfail United Church on Wednesday, September 27, at 2:00 p.m.
If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, the Innisfail Presbyterian Church or the Lung Association.
