It is with great sadness the family of Elizabeth Susan Chambers(nee Croome) announces her passing at Atikokan General Hospital peacefully on April 13 2017 with family by her side.
Liz was born in Winnipeg June 10, 1953. Her family lived in Thunder Bay and then Montreal where her father became ill and they moved back to Atikokan to be near extended family. Liz finished her schooling in Atikokan and went on to get her RNA certificate. She married her hometown sweetheart Darrell Chambers October 20,1973. They lived for a period of time in Thunder Bay and returned to their roots and family in Atikokan. Liz worked at AGH for numerous years. Liz and Darrell added 3 beautiful daughters to their growing family. Lisa, Dorion and Jodie. They were the loves of her life. She devoted herself to her husband Darrell and those 3 adorable little girls. She sewed for them, did crafts for and with them and cooked for and with them. Along with working and taking care of her mother Marjorie and helping with her in-laws Jim and Grace chambers. Liz had an amazingly big heart along with loving her family and extended family and friends she held a big part of her heart for her fur baby’s! She was definitely a dog whisperer. After leaving the AGH eh and Darrell started their own business of grooming and kenneling dogs. I think she really thought all the dogs in Atikokan were hers she just lent them out to their “owners”!!
She was a faithful member of church of the Good Shepherd and to this day you can see where she left her mark in those beautiful paintings. Liz loved painting with her little group (the 5 L’s) as well as hunting and fishing playing cards making crafts etc.
Liz is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Darrell chambers, children Lisa (Leo) Chambers of Stratton, Dorion Chambers of Fort Frances, Jodie(Jeff) Hare of Winnipeg and 8 grand children. Jacob, Shailyn, Elias,Cheyanne,Cohen, Ozzy, Mason and Rhyse. Also survived by her brother Herbert (Mary) Croome , and her sister Sherry Holgerson and brother Ron Holgerson.
She is also survived by many sister in laws brother in laws nieces and nephews and many adored cousins. She was predeceased by her father Bill Croome in 1961, mother Marjorie Croome (Brown) in 2015 and in laws Grace and Jim Chambers. Grandparents Clara and Alfred Brown and Elizabeth and Randolph Croome. Also Predeceased by Aunts Josephine (Cam) Benson, aunt Ruby (Craig)Duns, uncle Gerald (Merveline) aunt Caroline (Alex)Hughes,aunt Mary (Webb)Calder, aunt Gertrude(John)Stark, uncle Norman(Hazel)Croome,uncle Herbert Croome and by cousins Willie Cheslock and Blake Cheslock
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Thursday April 20th 2017 at 1 pm Followed by a celebration of life love and friendship at the legion hall following the service. Special thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff at AGH for their exceptional care and to all the friends and relatives for their visits and care of Liz.
