Eliza Sharpe – 2017

SHARPE, Eliza (nee Humber)(July 10, 1930 – May 30, 2017) – It is with great sadness that the family of Eliza Sharpe announce her passing on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Pleasantview Towers, age 87 years. She is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her children: Ivy Burt (Dennis) and Boyd Sharpe (Christina); granddaughter, Sarah Burt Hawco (Stephen). Also leaving to mourn are her sister, Melvina rake and sister-in-law, Dorothy Humber; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman (1995); parents, Cassie and Edward Humber; sisters: Rachel, Marion, Edna and Jeanette; brothers: Andrew and Cyril; and infant granddaughter, Susan. Special thank you to the staff at Pleasantview Towers and Ruby Manor for the care and support provided over the past several years. Visitation to take place at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, June 1 from 1:00pm-9:00pm. Funeral service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Avenue, on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 2:00pm with interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in Eliza`s memory to the Salvation Army Downtown Ministries, 21 Adams Avenue, St. John`s, NL A1C 4Z1. The essence of Eliza’s life is summed up in a quote she had written in her Salvation Army Songbook which said “Something to think about – Count your life a success if you do more for the community than the community does for you.”
