Aulenback (Sharpe), Eleanor Mary, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully April 4, 2017 in South Shore Regional Hospital at the age of 98.
Born in Moser River, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Catherine (Rhodeniser) Sharpe. She came to Halifax at an early age to work as a Nanny and in late years, worked at Sears Mail Order Department. She resided in Port Wallace, Dartmouth for most of her life. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She loved to care for children, and to help those in need. Gardening was her passion and sharing her cooking with family and friends. Her faith was her guide through life.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Gordon (Jane and daughter Anne), Carol (Aubrey) Conrad, Heather (Milton) Guignion; daughter-in law Judy Aulenback; grandchildren, Catherine (Mike) Demarchi, Kelly (Jeremy) Beam, Kristal (Garett) Hazelwood; great-grandchildren, Emma and Devan Demarchi, Camila and Simon Beam, Olivia and Darien Hazelwood and extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by siblings, David (Hattie), Edna (William) Hooper, Doris (Henry) Pemberton, Millage (Eunice), Lewis (Beulah), Eric (Margaret), Carl (Marjorie), Percy (Freda), Gwen (Donald) Brown; former spouse Victor William, and sister-in-law Edith Sharpe.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street Dartmouth. Visitation will be held from 7-9 on Friday April 7 and on Saturday April 8th from 9:30 to 10:30am in Atlantic Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Saturday April 8th in the funeral home chapel, Wayne Hutchison, Eric Lockhart, and Lucy Warren officiating. Reception to follow service. Burial to take place in Riverside Cemetery, Moser River.
Flowers are welcome. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Eleanor to the VON or to the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation.
We deeply appreciate all of the care provided by Home Care, VON, Palliative Care, Dr. Riding and the medical staff of SSRH. Thanks also to the friends who helped our dear Mother when she was in her own home and family was unable to be there for her.
