Edna Willfang, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at The Village Senior’s Community in Hanover on Thursday, January 26, 2017. She was 85.
Born on September 20, 1931, in Hanover to the late Norman and Alvina (nee Monk) Wilken. Edna enjoyed her work as a Cafeteria Employee, eagerly serving all the students and staff at J.D.S.S. for over 22 years. A faithful and devoted member of St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church Women, Edna was actively involved in her church alongside her family and treasured all her friends there.
Survived by children Sandra (Richard) Ermel of Hanover, Larry (Flora) Willfang of Port Elgin, Judy (Gordon) Thompson of Kincardine and Brian (Mary) Willfang of Hanover. Delighted when her precious grandchildren were around to visit her and will miss her dearly are Erin (Craig), Kerri (Brian), Dave (Kathy), Dean (Terrill), Dustin (Doug), Sean (Karren), Jeff (Erin), Michael (Michelle), Calvin and Beth (Anthony). Loved great grandmother of Matthew, MacKenzie, Kyle, Tristan, Garrett, Eva, Lue and expected twins to arrive in April. Edna will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband Roy (2014), sisters Louise Smith, Viola Jones and Dorothy Smith.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 am, at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Hanover.
Rev. John Polacok officiating. Interment to follow in Hanover Cemetery.
