November 26 2017
Kincaid, Edith Thurly – Thurly Kincaid passed away peacefully on November 26, 2017, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. She was the daughter of Angus and Laura (Harrison) Graham of Eastville. She celebrated her 100th birthday on November 13. She recently resided in Maplewood Park, Bible Hill. She and her husband, Robert, had celebrated 74 wedding anniversaries.
Thurly grew up and raised their family on the farm in Eastville. They worked hard raising a lot of their food, and all the work was done with a team of horses. They moved to Springside in 1957 and she enjoyed a more social life there. They attended Springside United Church. When Robert retired, they travelled to Newfoundland, Maine and Florida, and took a long trip by car to Texas. Thurly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always interested in what they were doing and where they were going. She enjoyed her flower gardens, the birds, and knitting. She knit many mittens for her family! A country lady, she moved in November 2011 to town, enjoying the time there very much, especially eating out in restaurants.
She is survived by her daughters, Ava (friend, Ken Day, deceased), Helen (Reuben) Cameron; sons, Rodney (Mary), Wayne (Coral); grandchildren, Marvin (Sandra) Geddes, Allen Geddes, Shelley (George) Flemming, Cathy (Niels) Keyser, Cindy (Steve Webster) Kincaid, Corinna (Mark) Lowe, Kevin Kincaid, Brian Cameron, Glen (Roseanne) Cameron; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Marley, Freya, Robbie, Jim, Peter, Kaydee, Brandon (Charlene), Mitchell (Cassadie), Alissia and Christian. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; son-in-law, Roy Geddes; sisters-in-law, Catherine (Fred) Rines and Mary (Patrick) Horan.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 3, at 2 p.m. in Springside United Church, Marty Clark-Ettinger officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Eastville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Springside United Church or a charity of choice.
