Obituary for Ed Soloshy
William Edsel Soloshy (Ed) passed away peacefully with members of his family at his side on October 26, 2017 at the age of 86.
Ed was born on January 31, 1931 on his parents’ farm in the Qu’Appelle Valley, the second-youngest of twelve children of John and Hilma Soloshy. When he married in 1954, Ed purchased his wife’s parents’ farm north-east of Whitewood where they raised their children. Ed was a diligent farmer and valued maintaining his independence on the farm right up until his passing. He was also very social and enjoyed meeting friends in town for coffee and going to local dances. Ed would often speak proudly of the achievements of his descendants.
He is survived by his eight children: Tom (Lisa), Cindy Blondeau (Edwin), JoanMargaret Laine, Bob (Sheila), Mike (Sheryl), Donna Demong (Paul), Roger (Miki), and Evan; his fifteen grandchildren: Donalda Oliver (Billy), Steve Soloshy (Danielle), Tristen Soloshy, Cory Blondeau (Tara-Marie), Kyle Blondeau (Nikki), Kelsey Blondeau (Brianna), Richard Crossman (Dawn), Douglas Crossman (Alice), Roberta Crossman, Crystal Girard (Kevin), Clay Soloshy (Kyla), Andy Soloshy, Jeff Soloshy (Jayme), Anthony Demong, and Elizabeth Demong; and his thirteen great-grandchildren: Mitchell and Fraser Oliver; Kenzie, Anabelle, and Bryanna Soloshy; Lily, Meadow and Raven Blondeau; Phoenix and Hurley Crossman; Kayden and Kruz Girard; and Owen Soloshy.
Ed will be missed by his family and friends. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Whitewood Cemetery on Tuesday, October 31st 2017 at 11:00am.
