2017
Dwyla Goulais (nee McLeod), January 29, 1935 – November 3, 2017. Our Momma began her peaceful journey back to the Spirit World at Cassellholme in North Bay in her 83rd year. Dwyla was born in Sturgeon Falls and raised in K’tigaaniing (Garden Village) as the eldest of a large, closeknit Anishinaabe family. She will be fondly remembered for her many gifts as our Momma, Sister, Grandma and Auntie to many generations.
She spent her final days surrounded by the love of her daughter Phyllis Anderson (John) and sons, Andrew (Cindy), Bob (Deborah) and Dennis Jr. (Laurie).
She was predeceased by her husband Dennis Goulais, and her parents Fred McLeod Sr. and Leda McLeod (Couchie), and her brother Fred McLeod Jr. (wife Kathleen), sister Eleanor Bellaire (The Late Albert Bellaire) and infant sister Phyllis. She will always be remembered by her siblings Jeannette Goulais (The Late Paul Goulais), Angus McLeod (The Late Nicole McLeod), Joan McLeod, Barbara Young, Lynda Lewis (The Late Henry Lewis), Lorianne McLeod-Archer and Lee Faubert (Mike), Tammy Saulis (Conrad), all of Garden Village, Jacqueline Couch (Glenn) of Pickering, Larry McLeod (Darlene), Darlene Church (Bill), Debbie Fisher (The Late Derrick Fisher) and Theresa McLeod, all of North Bay, Nancy Allaire (Peter) of Sturgeon Falls.
She’ll be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Martin Commanda, Shawn Anderson, Sue Goulais, Tanya Goulais, Amy Goulais, Cody Goulais, Tate Goulais, Katherine Faith Goulais, Griffin Assance-Goulais, Miigwans Assance-Goulais, Jasmine Fairbairn and Fiona Fairbairn and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
We offer a chi-miigwetch to the kind and attentive staff of Cassellholme especially her friend Matthew. In lieu of flowers send more flowers.
