Obituary for Mr. Duane Bradley McGinnis
Duane Bradley McGinnis, 64, Heritage Pointe, Alberta, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on December 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Duane was born in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, moved to Calgary with his parents and sister in 1961, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary in 1974.
Duane was extremely well known and respected in his community and by industry leaders, colleagues, clients and staff through building many successful businesses. One area of particular accomplishment during his outstanding career, was the development of a nationally recognized and respected worksite safety program which speaks to Duane’s commitment and compassion for his employees and realized vision for the advancement of his chosen industry. Whenever Duane was praised for his efforts, he always deferred to his business partners and staff for whom he was so very proud.
A beloved and fiercely loyal husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, Duane was a one of a kind human being and serious force of nature. To say Duane loved golf would be a serious understatement. He called his 29-year commitment to the Willow Park Charity Classic his “favourite week of the year”. Duane’s lifelong support of fundraising is a testament to his overwhelming generosity, sense of responsibility and fulfilled dedication to numerous community groups and charities, including Special Olympics Calgary and Habitat for Humanity.
Duane is survived by his cherished wife of 43 years, Lorraine (nee Frigon), sons Travis (Tanya) and Sean, grandchildren Trestan, Teigan, Aiden and Mason, mother Casmere and sister Jacquie. Duane was predeceased by his father Bradley.
A Celebration to honour Duane’s Life will be held at a later date.
