Beloved son of Harriet and Rev. Gary Alcock. Lovingly remembered by sisters Sharon (Kelly Bouwman), Carolyn Snider, Allison (Jeff Shaw), Dr. Kathy Alcock (Jennifer Matice), father Alan (Marlene Wheeler) and his girlfriend Julia Mlynarek.
Terry was a professor of Entomology with McGill University, Macdonald campus for 22 years. He earned the respect of his students and teaching colleagues and was recognised with the C. Gordon Hewitt Award, Entomological Society of Canada, Macdonald Campus Award for Teaching Excellence, Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching, McGill University, Alan Blizzard Award, Society for Teaching and Higher Education. Terry was Curator & Director – Lyman Entomological Museum. He was devoted to his students and his research!
Terry took great pleasure in exploring and hiking in the deserts of Arizona, the Northwest Territories and the Mountains of Vermont. He cherished his memories of his youth growing up in Newfoundland where he was born and in accordance with his wishes, an inurnment will take place in Portugal Cove Newfoundland.
Donations may be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute c/o Dr. Kevin Petrecca’s Lab (3801 University Street, Montréal, Québec H3A 2B4) or to the West Island Palliative Care Residence (300 Rue Stillview, Pointe-Claire, Québec H9R 0M1).
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held for his University family in September.
