Douglas Ross Doug Campbell – 1942-2016

Douglas Ross “Doug” Campbell
1942-2016
Campbell, Douglas Ross

It is with heavy hearts the family of Doug Campbell announces
his peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday,
December 10, 2016. He was born in Saint John on October 29, 1942 to
the late Alan and Renee (Bazin) Campbell.
A graduate of Ricker College, Houlton, ME, Doug joined the
company of Hall & Fairweather Insurance in 1967 where he
served as President from 1974 until 2006. Professionally, he also
served on a number of Boards and
Committees.
Doug’s life was centered around his family, friends
and sports. As an avid hockey fan, he was involved with the Lancaster
Minor Hockey Association during the 1980’s as both a coach
and volunteer. He was a member of the Carlton Union Masonic Lodge, the
Luxor Shriners where he was in the Motor Corp and the Royal Order of
Jesters. He was also a member of the Cliff Club and White Rapids
Fishing Club.
Doug’s passion in sport was golf, were he excelled
as a player, volunteer and administrator. He was a life-long member of
the Westfield Golf Club serving on various boards and committees
including Club President (1975). He was a Past-President of the New
Brunswick Golf Association (1973-1974) and served as the non-playing
captain of the 1974 NB Willingdon Cup Team. More recently he was
actively involved with the Westfield “Masters”.
Despite his best efforts and desire to capture this elusive title he
was never fitted for the “coveted” green jacket. One
of his greatest achievements was his induction into the Westfield Golf
Club Wall of Fame for his contributions both on and off the golf
course.
Doug is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jane (Wyman); sons
Andrew (Beth) and David (Grace) and granddaughter Katie who lovingly
called him “Dippy”. He is also survived by his
brother Ian, Regina, SK; sister in law Judy; niece Melissa; nephews,
Daniel and Brian and special cousins Micheline MacDonald and Denise
D’Aoust. He was predeceased by his brother Donald and nephew
Robert.
Arrangements are under the care of
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row,
Saint John, NB (634-7424). Visitation will take place on Tuesday,
December 13 from 6-8 pm and Wednesday, December 14 from 2-4 and 6-8
pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 15 at 11:00
am from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 4 Church Avenue,
Rothesay. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Saint John
Regional Hospital Heart Function Clinic or the Salvation Army would be
appreciated.
