Passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 15, 2017 in his 87th year. Loving husband of the late Marion “Nan” (1991). Devoted father of Catherine Ross (Peter), Jeffrey (Suzanne), Eric (Ann Marie) and Tracie Legg (Danny). Extremely proud Ta to Amanda (Luke), Jordan, Andrew, Taryn (Evan), Sam (Kasia), Jeremy, Erica, Emily, Richard, Jessica and Connor. Dear brother of Lawrence (Barbara) of Burlington and brother-in-law to Greig and Joan Black of Toronto. Doug was born in Toronto to Edgar and Florence Coulson and moved to Burlington in 1962. He found his true calling in insurance adjusting as the owner of D.E. Coulson Insurance Adjusters Ltd., which operated from 1969 until his retirement in 2001. Doug was actively involved in the Burlington community, serving as president of both the Burlington Y Aquatic Club and the Ontario Stroke Recovery Association and member of the Burlington Accessibility Committee. An honourary lifetime member of the OIAA (Hamilton Chapter) and member of the CIAA. He loved to travel, play and watch sports and was always happy to share a good joke! Many thanks to the team at Acclaim Health and the medical teams at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. Friends will be received at BAY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905.527.0405) on Wednesday October 18 from 6 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in chapel on Thursday October 19 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
