Dorothy Dot Williams – 2016

On December 16, 2016, Dorothy “Dot” Williams of Mayerthorpe passed away at the age of 98 years.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Keith (Inez) of The Pas, MB, Wesley of Grande Prairie, AB, Randy of Mayerthorpe, AB and Garry (Anita) of Wetaskiwin, AB; grandchildren, Bradley, Paige, Naomi and Glen; nine great-grandchildren; and many dear relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband, Frank (1991); grandson, Les; brothers, Arthur (Verna) and Albert (Mary); sisters, Kathleen (August), Myrtle (Jalmar) and Helen (Art).
Dot lived her life with grace and with love for her family and friends. Dot was dedicated to her family and generally cared for everyone, young and old. Besides being a farm wife, mother and caregiver to many children, Dot’s longest career was volunteering and she received many awards for her service, including the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) for her outstanding and exemplary contributions to her community. Dot loved watching hockey and she was also an artist.
A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends in the Spring of 2017. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Pleasant View Lodge – Lac Ste. Anne Foundation, P.O. Box 299, Mayerthorpe, AB T0E 1N0 or Extendicare Resident Council, Box 569 Mayerthorpe, AB T0E 1N0.
