Obituary of Doris Smith
Smith, Doris Evelyn (nee Jay) – of Highgate, passed away on Thursday November 16, 2017, age 101. Loving wife of the late Charles Vyse Smith (d. 1993).
Beloved mother of Nancy (William) Davidson of Highgate, Patricia (late Larry) Chappell of London, Bill (late Carol Jacques) Smith (Carol LaVoy) of Rondeau, Ruth Meyers of Highgate, and James Smith of Highgate.
Grandmother of nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Sister of Charles (Thelma) Jay of Chatham.
Predeceased by her parents William and Ada (nee Colliver), sibling Stan (late Sheila) Jay, Gladys (late George) Bailey, Mildred (late Jim) Congo, and Clarence (late Louise) Jay.
Doris was a longtime member of the Highgate United Church Women’s Group. She enjoyed quilting and caring for her family.
Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, Ridgetown, on Sunday November 19, 2017 from 1-2pm. The Funeral Service for Doris will then be held at 2pm. Burial to follow in the Duart Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Doris may be made to the Mary Webb Centre or a charity of your choice.
