DORIS (ANNETT) PAULUSSE (nee Johnston) ~ It is with great love and respect that we announce the end of our mother’s long and well lived life. She slipped away surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. At 91, hers was a life filled with various chapters that provided her with such titles as wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, student, chef, community volunteer and Sweet Adeline. She was also known as a quilter, knitter, crossword puzzler, card player and “champion of the underdog”.
A proud Listowelite her whole life she called 265 Blake St home for the past 60 years. She loved nothing more than to be with her family and friends and was blessed to have enjoyed the company of those from so many parts of her life including Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel Legion, Sweet Adelines, Listowel Memorial Hospital and of course her beloved neighbourhood. Most of all she loved to be with her husband Bill whom she worshipped from the day they met in 1980.
Predeceased by her siblings, Jim (Orrie), Margaret (Bob), Jessie (Wes) and Ross, her passing marks the end of the Johnston dynasty. Also predeceased by her first husband Bill Annett (1977) as well as numerous in-laws from both the Annett and Paulusse families.
She is survived by the love of her life, her best friend and husband Bill Paulusse, her daughters and sons-in-laws, Heather and Bob MacNeil of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Joan and Moray Watson of Granton, as well as grandchildren Andrew MacNeil, Lauren MacNeil and her fiancé Kel Stopper, and Spencer MacNeil.
Also survived by her stepchildren Crystal Beale of Moncton, New Brunswick, and Steven Paulusse of Pembroke, and their extended families.
Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral home, Listowel on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
A Celebration of her Life and Love will be held on Saturday, January 14th at 1:00 p.m. in Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, followed by reception at the Listowel Legion.
Spring interment in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, or the Salvation Army Food Bank.
