Doris MayRowland – 2017

ROWLAND
Doris May Rowland (nee Wingate) of Olds, passed away peacefully February 1, 2017 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 77 years. She fought a truly courageous battle with pancreatic cancer; she inspired her family and friends with her strength and optimism.
Doris was born in Calgary on September 24, 1939. She grew up on the family farm in Benjamin District, the youngest of nine children. She met and married Art Rowland on February 2, 1963. They resided in Lacombe, Red Deer and settled in Olds for the past 43 years raising their three sons. She volunteered endless hours with various organizations including the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Ada Wingate, her sisters Reene Conrad, Ada Brooks, Ivy Roe, Mary Mantle, Jesse Wingate and brother Jim, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her loving husband Art; sons Kevin (Kathy), Barton, Dwayne (Cory); grandchildren Jason, Caitlyn, Mathew, Shawn, Haley; great-grandson Seth; sisters Elise Engen and Joan Kraft; as well as numerous brother and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 Olds, on Saturday February 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m..
