Obituary for Doris Beddome
BEDDOME: Doris Beddome was born at Medora, Manitoba on March 23, 1920, the third daughter for John and Mary Martin. They had immigrated to Canada from Devon, England in 1915. Doris was born after her father returned from the First World War. Doris attended Medora School through high school and then worked in Belle’s Fashion Shop in Winnipeg for seven years. In 1943, she entered the St. Boniface School of Nursing, graduating in 1947 as a Registered Nurse. Doris worked in the Toronto General Hospital and Deer Lodge Veterans Hospital in Winnipeg. She spent six months in England, providing end of care life for an aunt. In 1953, Doris married Norman Beddome, a grain farmer from Minnedosa, Manitoba. Doris and Norman spent fifty five years enjoying their farm in the summer and their residence in St. Petersburg, Florida in the winter months. Doris and Norman’s son, Ronald, was born in 1956. Doris was pre-deceased by her husband Norman, her parents, her sisters Phyllis, Marjorie (Orval Innes), Margaret (Jim Dalrymple), brothers Dick (Mollie) and Jackie who passed away at twelve years of age. Doris will lovingly be remembered by son Ronald.
